In 2008, Lisa initiated planning activity for a series of community based programs in Oakland, CA. The first program, H.O.P.E. (Helping Our Public school Environments) seeks to clean and green inner city schools using a holistic approach to include nutrition through a farm to school program, green products and sustainable building practices. The focus would be to assess each school, and prioritize their needs in order to put a program in place. H.O.P.E is currently working on it's first school, Thornhill Elementary, and will provide a business model that will be applied for the nations most economically challenged schools. The second program, H.E.A.L. (Healthy Environments for Assisted Living) seeks to clean and green assisted living centers also using a holistic approach to include nutrition assessments, green building maintenance and quality of life sustainability, including Indoor Air Quality improvements. The pilot will be initiated Summer 2011 in Oakland, CA. The third program, Y.E.S. (Youth Empowerment Services) will consist of Green Job Training for our inner city youth. The Y.E.S. program will support the prior two programs.
In 2005, Lisa worked with CATO Children’s Fund in Ghana, West Africa in partnership with West African Villages renovating orphanages throughout Ghana. Her work helped to restore water and basic living quarters to many families. Lisa received the “SuperHero” Award in Oakland, CA for working with inner city kids and teaching them art and photography in the after school program, “Attitudinal Healing”.
