Easter Seals Bay Area Appoints Lisa McFadin to Board of Directors

(OAKLAND, CA—February 9, 2010)—Easter Seals Bay Area (bayarea.easterseals.com) today announced the appointment of Lisa McFadin to the organization’s board of directors. McFadin is the President and Founder of Green Venues (greenvenues.biz), a diversified group of LEED professionals and educators, sustainability managers, architects, and engineers. She has been active in environmental design and construction for more than 20 years. McFadin is also the co-founder of CATO Children’s Fund, a non-profit organization that partners with West African villages renovating orphanages throughout Ghana

“We are pleased to have Lisa join our efforts on behalf of children and families affected by autism and other disabilities. Her experience, ideas, and energy are welcome additions to the Easter Seals Bay Area Board of Directors,” said Matthew Riley, vice president and general manager of Harry’s Fresh Foods and chairman of the board for Easter Seals Bay Area.

“During the last several decades, Easter Seals Bay Area has helped countless numbers of individuals with disabilities and their families in our community,” said Lisa McFadin. “I am thrilled to be a part of this wonderful organization and cannot wait to get started. I am looking forward to helping expand Easter Seals’ impact on the lives of children and families affected by disabilities throughout the Bay Area.”

Prior to founding Green Venues, McFadin worked as a Senior Project Manager with CB Richard Ellis (CBRE). She was responsible for managing the construction for Cisco’s $48 Million Dollar ‘LifeConnections’ Child Care and Fitness Center on the company’s San Jose-based campus. She also oversaw the LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Certification and Sustainable Business Model, making this building Cisco’s first GOLD Certified accomplishment.

McFadin has also initiated planning activity for Project H.O.P.E (Helping Our Public School Environments) in Northern California. Working with Thera Kalmijn, CEO of SureGround Solutions, on their first H.O.P.E school, Thornhill Elementary in Oakland, CA. McFadin seeks to help California’s inner city schools become more sustainable through state-provided ‘green building’ grants—with the goal of providing a healthier, happier and more holistic education for inner-city, school-aged children. The pilot program started during the school year 2009-2010 in Oakland, CA, with the objective to launch the program nationwide once established in California.

McFadin is a native of Colorado, where her father was an active supporter of Easter Seals camping and recreation programs. She has four children and currently resides with her family in Oakland, CA. In 2005, McFadin received the “SuperHero” award in Oakland for teaching photography and art in the Attitudinal Healing after-school program for inner-city children.
